My First Robot

Image
I had always wanted to write a blog. Finally I've convinced myself to write one! I'm Praveen, an undergrad Mechanical Engineering student at the School of Engineering, Cochin University of Science and Technology. I'm very much passionate about Robotics,AI and other related fields and would like to share my journey into such stuff through this blog. So my first post would be about............ of course.......... my first step into the exciting field of Robotics. Yes my first robot doesn't do much and has limited intelligence, but hey, its just the beginning...... Her name is Wally........ no she has nothing to do with Wall-E. The name comes due to her strange behavior. She is indeed intelligent enough to avoid anyone coming in her way and also doesn't go banging her head against the wall. But she has a big problem, she loves to hang out with the wall and follows it everywhere. I really don't know why she keeps ignoring me!! STOP! Please Don't close ...

A talk on "Hacking with Open Data" at AngelHack Kochi

Image
My first introduction to "Open Data" was during the  Wiki Sangamotsav  at Allapuzha, which took place last year in December. Since I was too lazy to create a presentation from scratch, I decided not to use any slides,  relying solely ...

Mozilla, Wiki and Alappuzha

Image
I've come a long way with Mozilla now, immediately after after participating in the app days in June, I joined the Mozilla Kerala Community and it has been a roller-coaster ride since then. Recently, I went to the Wiki Sangamotsav 2013 in Alappuzha representing the Mozilla Kerala Community along with a few colleagues from the community. The event was more than what I had expected and even though it was aimed at promoting the Malayalam Wiki, it was very nice to see Wikimedians from all over India participating with great enthusiasm. The three day event started off on 21st December, with the first day focusing on talks and sessions about Wiki for School children. The Mozilla stall was a hit with the children and we almost ran out of swags on the first day itself! Here's me explaining the new Firefox OS    to the children.(on the Keon which Mozilla gifted me for the " Phones for App Ports to Firefox OS "  contest ) I was eagerly waiting for the next day, o...
